Biography

 

Born in Glasgow on June 29, 1982, at Glasgow's Queen Mother's Hospital. Alan lives in Woodside of Glasgow with partner Ashley.
He has one younger brother Lawrence, mother Susan and his father Colin; is deceased.

Alan attended St. Joseph's Primary School, Woodside, Glasgow and then Crookfur Primary, Newton Mearns, Glasgow, before attending Eastwood High School, Newton Mearns, Glasgow. Shortly after leaving high school, Alan attended Cardonald College, Cardonald, Glasgow.

Since 1994, Alan has been associated with a number of charities throughout the UK. His favourite being Yorkhill Children's Foundation, Glasgow.

Alan has many different duties to perform every day. Some are public duties, such as visiting a youth organisation, schools or projects and some are private, such as meetings with politicians, boards of youth organisations. Away from the public, however, Alan's work goes on. It includes reading letters from the public and briefing notes; audiences with political ministers or politicians and discussing his future diary plans. No two days are ever the same and Alan remains prepared throughout.

Though most of the mails and e-mails are corresponded by some of Alan's assistants, Alan takes a couple of hours each week to read and reply as he believes it's important to be committed and reliable.

Alan holds no surgeries but is available to meet at a local public venue on arranging a suitable time and date.

Alan was member of the Social Justice Committee of the Scottish Youth parliament from November 2005 to 18 June 2006.

Did you know? 

  • Alan was the youngest community councillor in Scotland in 2005.
  • Had an audience with the Prime Minister Tony Blair at the age of㺔 at 10 Downing Street, spent the day and dined with the PM.
  • Was a regular visitor to the First Minister's residence in Edinburgh when the then first First Minister Donald Dewar MP resided there.
  • Have five god-children with the youngest of the five being twins.
  • His favourite soft drink is Coca Cola and Lucozade Orange and favourite champaign is Dom Pérignon Rosé 1995, Moët et Chandon from France.
  • He's a strong anti racist campaigner and regularly speaking up for young people and the Chinese Community.
  • Comedy programmes or movies are ones that Alan tends to go for as he loves to have a laugh.
  • Alan and former partner Ashley was the proud sponsor of Bert Johnston and Pat Scullion of Cowdenbeath FC for 2006/07.
  • Coming from a large family, Alan has over twenty cousins and three nieces. Most of his family reside in the UK with others in Hong Kong and Toronto.
